Alejandro Obregón – Painter and muralist.
This famous painter is one of the best Colombian artists in recent years. Many of his works are displayed in the most famous modern art museums around the world and in some of the most prestigious art galleries. He has received many international awards. Obregón is considered a Barranquillero, although he was born in Barcelona (Spain).

Angel Loockhart – Painter and muralist.
Renowned painter in figurative expressionism. His paintings have been exhibited in many Spanish, Italian, Colombian and American art galleries. He was born in Barranquilla.

Victor Laignelet Sourdis – Painter.
Laignelet works have been exhibited in Bogotá, Cali, Barranquilla, Montreal, Paris, San Juan, Cuenca, Jerusalem, Brussels and Mexico.
Some of the recognitions he received include: First Prize in the XXX National Hall of Colombian Artists; Colcultura, Scholarship Bogotá ; Medal of Merit in Plastic Arts, Proartes, Cali and Luis Caballero Prize, Bogotá. He was born in Barranquilla.

Fashion Designer

Silvia Tcherassi – Fashion Designer.
Silvia Tcherassi is one of the best designers of the new generation throughout the international fashion community.
She was invited to participate in both Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks. Her Spring-Summer 2005 collection was exhibited at the ever famous Carrousel du Louvre. She received the New Star in Fashion Award from Margarita Puig de Lang and Beth Sobol, executive VP in fashion in Miami (2001). Her beautiful casual clothing designs, her evening gowns and bridal wear are sold in exclusive fashion shops throughout the world.
She is the owner of two boutiques in Miami, two in Barranquilla and one in Bogotá. Her place of birth was Barranquilla.

Sofía Vergara – Model and actress.
She began her career as a model in Elite magazine. Later, she was a "Celebrities" hostess on Colombian television. She has won international acclaim as an actress. She was born in 1972.

Sportsmen

Helmut Bellingrodt – Shooting.
Two-time Olympic silver medalist won his first in Munich in 1972 then the second eight years later in Los Angeles. He was born in Barranquilla in 1949.

Edgar Rentería – Baseball player.
First Barranquillero in the Major Leagues has earned several accomplishments. Thrice he won the NL Silver Slugger Award, He was also a two-time winner of the NL Golden Glove along with many other baseball competitions. Born in1975.

Alfredo Anatoly Peña – Chess player.
World Champion at the Students' Chess Tournament (category sub-17) in Halkidiki, Greece in 2007. He is the first Colombian to ever receive a gold medal in a world chess championship. Peña was a junior national champion several times. The great chess prodigy was born in Barranquilla in 1990.
